Carrs Billington Agriculture is a major supplier of premium
quality compounded and blended feeds, with a substantial
market share throughout the North of England, Scotland,
Wales and the Midlands.
Below you can read information
on the manufacture and quality of our feeds: high performance feeds, traceability and formulation or you can go
direct to Animal
Feeds product information.
Sales Outlets:
Carrs Billington combine sales of feed through
teams of Area Sales Managers and
a network
of 14 branches.
The combination provides on farm support
and service, complemented by an expansive
northern geographic spread of retail
branches offering both ‘one-stop shopping’ and
also a local feed collection facility further to the
company’s direct delivery service.
High Performance Feeds For Every Situation:
The company’s quality ruminant compounds are manufactured at four ‘state of the art’ feed mills, Carlisle and Langwathby in Cumbria, Lancaster in Lancashire and Stone in Staffordshire. Specialist mixtures and blends are manufactured at Kirkbride in Cumbria, Askrigg in North Yorkshire and the Lancaster mill.
All production facilities are approved by the Agricultural
Industry Confederation (AIC) Feed Assurance Scheme (UFAS) and are operated in a manner which displays an on-going
drive towards excellence in the control of product quality,
together with a real commitment to ensuring that we occupy
a responsible place within the food chain. All sites practice
a HACCP (Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points) scheme.
With the aquisition in July 2005 of the Pye Bibby business, Carrs Billington increased the number of animal feed production sites under its direct control in the North West. Subsequently it launched a new production partnership with two trade associate companies to cover feed requirements throughout Wales and the borders. This new partnership, known as Bibby Agriculture, is a standalone company which retained the original Pye Bibby sales and technical teams. Feed for this business is manufactured at Carrs Billington’s Stone Mill and at two other mills in Carmarthen and Llansantffraidd.
Traceability:
All Farm Assured Schemes, both independent and those operated by purchasing organisations rightly demand full and comprehensive systems of traceability with which to assure retail organisations and consumers of a quality process.
Carrs Billington have the ability to easily trace the background to each and every load of feed we manufacture right back to the source of raw materials used should it be necessary to do so.
Formulation:
An experienced team of nutritionists / formulators formulate our well-proven range of ruminant feeds, in addition to drawing up specifications for contract manufactured specialist feeds (e.g Dog, Rabbit etc.)
They ensure that within every range of feeds there is a brand that meets and satisfies all customer requirements, taking full account of:
- Current production systems
- Animal Welfare
- The demanding requirements of the food chain
- Economics of livestock production
- The genetic potential of modern livestock
- New Advances in nutritional knowledge
- The availability and variability of other feeds, including forages.
